All Dogs Welcome

Hugger

03/31/2013

Picture
Meet Hugger the hound. He's approximately 18 months old and appears to be a black and tan coonhound mix looking for a forever or dedicated foster home in the Chicagoland Area! Hugger traveled 1000 miles to Chicago after he was rescued by Famous Fido from a rural shelter in WV! He is a sweet boy who likes other dogs and people. Hugger needs someone or a family who will help him adjust to a new life indoors and work with him on some basic training and some leash work.

And thanks to the efforts of Famous Fido it seems he found just the right family!

Zeke

Picture
Zeke is a fabulously sweet, funny, loving, wonderful doxie/min pin boy. He wins over everyone he meets with his amazingly endearing personality. Zeke aims to please, love and be loved. And he is so smart. You'll see how he cleverly, ever so slightly timidly, checks you out to be sure you will love him back before jumping onto your lap! He makes his way through his fur siblings in much the same way. Zeke equally enjoys cuddling and playing. An ideal furever home for him will include a playful dog to match his energy and enthusiasm for life. Zeke is completely house trained, learned his foster home's doggie door the very first day. Zeke is just about a perfect 15 pounds. He loves to play with toys and does not rip or tear them. He's a gentleman at dinnertime, eats slowly; accepts treats gently. I cannot say enough good about Zeke. Zeke was very much loved in his foster home but so deserved a family to call his own. And thanks to the efforts of Furever Dachshund Rescue he now has one!

Garth

Hi, my name is Garth. I am the cutest chocolate dapple boy there ever was! Look at my sweet innocent eyes just begging to be loved. I am very playful and friendly with other dogs. I was abused by an adult male, so I am very fearful and can be protective against adult or teenage males.

But I'm so thankful to Furever Dachshund Rescue for helping me find the perfect home for me!

Didi

Picture
Didi is a 9 year old, female, smooth, black & tan Doxie. But she doesn't seem to know how old she is - she's still running around like a puppy! And there are a copule of things she wants you to know about her:

"Hi! My name is Didi. I may be 9 but don’t let my age fool you, I still run & play like a puppy, especially with my foster sisters. Playing hide & seek never gets old! I get along great with them & even the cats. My foster mom calls me her little cuddlebug because I love to be near you all the time and I am eager to please. My favorite thing to do is cuddle on your lap & give you kisses. At night, I love to sleep in a big bed and burrow under the blankets just like a typical dachshund. I’ve had some dental work recently,so I am missing a few of my teeth, so soft food & treats really work best for me. And I should warn you, I sure love my treats! I am very inquisitive & love to sniff & explore everything. I walk very well on a leash & enjoy going for walks. Every once in awhile, I will bark just to let you know I’m coming.

Well I'm really glad Furever Dachshund Rescue helped find me my new family!

Fluffy

02/23/2013

Picture
Fluffy is a very petite little girl with gorgeous long black and tan hair. She does have 3 patches of gray spots, which makes her a dapple dachshund. She is very rare considering she is a long haired dapple dachshund and has 2 different colored eyes. Fluffy is shy and timid at first . However, once she knows you she will follow you everywhere and she will treat you like you are her sun and moon. She isn't 100% sure of men right now and tends to bark constantly a them, but we are definitely improving on this every day. She loves playing with other dogs (big or small), as long as they are not alphas.

Thanks to the efforts of Furever Dachshund Rescue Fluffy now has a home of her own!

Heidi

02/21/2013

Picture
Heidi is a beautiful, approximately 3 year old, purebred Boxer. She weighs about 57 pounds right now, which is a little thin for her build, but she's working on improving her shape! She is housebroken and just adores people! As the saying goes, she'll never meet a stranger because she loves everyone upon first meeting. She has great leash manners and walks right along side of you. She can be a bit exuberant when she encounters other animals along the route but responds immediately to being corrected.

Heidi is truly excellent with people. She becomes rather excitable around cats and might be best in a home without one. And though she is good with some dogs she becomes skittish and has shown some aggression when approached by larger more dominant dogs. Slow and careful introductions to other dogs will work and practiced socialization should help Heidi overcome her concerns about her larger friends!

Loves to play fetch with toys and thinks she is a lap dog, She rarely barks, and would rather lay in the a room where you are than go outside and explore the backyard. She actually blows bubbles out of the side of her mouth when you pour her food in her bowl and it is quite funny to see. She can jump very high so a tall fence would be important if she will be going outside unsupervised.

And we are proud to report that Heidi has found a loving home where she will get all the love and playtime she craves!

Hobson

02/19/2013

Picture
Hello All, I am Hobson and I am a dachshund/beagle mix or at least that is what I have been told. I am a happy friendly “big” (for a doxie) guy. I came from a shelter having been found as a stray. No way was I a stray. I had a family and a place to call home but I wondered off one day. You see, I was well kept and had short nails and clean ears, all the things a stray does not have. In my foster home I am the biggest dog, but I do well and play with the little guys. I even use a doggy door and will sleep in a crate if made too. I would much rather sleep in the big bed or in a small bed in the kitchen.  Did I tell you I would like to play with the neighbor’s kids?

Furever Dachsund Rescue helped me find my new family. I can't wait to see where they let me sleep (big bed, big bed, big bed - PLEASE)!!!

Horatio

"I'm 'HORATIO', like the hero on the TV show “CSI-Miami”. I’m a 7 yr old male standard smoothie that’s much more handsome in person than in my photos. I’m the delicious color of milk chocolate with a creamy whipped-cream color fashionably squirted around on my body – and I have an adorable tail that is multi-striped. Pretty cool, yes? I am house-trained, playful and lively, and enjoy other well-mannered doggies and children – not certain about cats, though. For a hunter-dog like me, they can be fun to chase and annoy. Mostly, I’m pretty easy-going and get along with everyone. I lost my owner to an accident and need kindness and TLC to fill my heart. Please?? I’ll behave and be your best buddy and try hard to learn everything you teach me – promise! Doxies are such snuggle-bunnies and deck-dozers on the nice days. Could we hang together? I'll even share my french fires with you - that is if you'll buy us some!"

Well, thanks to the efforts of Furever Dachshud Rescue and my great personal add it seems I found a family to love that is going to love me back, snuggle and play with me, and occasionally feed me some french fries!

Gabby

02/10/2013

Picture
Gabby is an energetic, fun-loving BT, who isn't shy about letting you know she wants to be rubbed and loved on. She does well with the child and the dogs in her foster home. She is house and crate trained.

Gabby’s foster Mom says she is a fast learner and after only a week, has learned their daily schedule and how to use the doggie door. Gabby loves being outside and prances through the yard before finding the perfect spot to sit and sun, or roll around in the dirt! Her foster Mom says she is very observant and can see very well with her good eye. She pounced on an ant the other day! She loves going for walks and has gotten used to her harness and leash. Gabby will follow you everywhere and will put her front paws on you when you sit down and nuzzle or paw at your hand until you pet her. Quite cute!
