Diamond and Dex

Meet Diamond and Dex! Diamond is a beautiful female fawn Chihuahua and Dexter (center) is a handsome nine-year-old, five-pound, teacup Chihuahua. These babies are very attached and need to find their forever home together. They were split up once and they were both so miserable that they had to be reunited.
Diamond is four years old and weighs ten pounds. Besides being pretty, Diamond enjoys playing with other dogs, especially Dex, and being showered with attention. She is a little princess and deserves to be treated like one. Diamond also loves to talk and is very intelligent.

Dexter has a beautiful black and tan coat and big ears make him look like a tiny german shepherd. He loves to be carried around and gets along nicely with other dogs. Since he is a senior, Dex prefers to have a calmer environment and may get crabby when over-stimulated. He would be best in a mature home. By the way, you might be interested in learning the 'Top Ten Reasons to Adopt a Senior Dog.' Yoi might be surprised how rewarding it can be!

Dex and Diamond have been at Famous Fido Rescue for 9 months and they are more than ready to find a permanent home. To foster or adopt Diamond and Dex, please contact Famous Fido Rescue at 773-907-0305  or fido@famousfidorescue.com.

ADOPTION PENDING

Thad is a handsome little Chiweenie who is 7 months old at the time of this post. He is neutered, crate trained, and working on his house breaking - but he's only a puppy! He has a beautiful red and brown smooth coat and is a tiny little guy at just 8 pounds.  He does well in the company of other dogs but has not really been around cats or young children.
Thad's foster mom wrote the following bio about him:
Thad is cute little Chiweenie -  a small sweetie!

We are unsure of his care before the shelter, but he seems to be quiet the snuggler! He is energetic at times and loves to go for a ride! He does ok on a leash, but we are working on this! He is going outside for most of his bathroom needs but has accidents sometimes! He does like to bark and sometimes chases after larger dogs! (small dog syndrome)!! He does pretty well with small dogs! He has not had a problem with one small dog yet! I can’t say how good he is with small kids but the little girl that lives next door (approx. 2yrs old) comes to the fence and pets him through the fence! He sits there and lets her do it! I am working on socializing him but he will need someone to have patience with him on this! He does get jealous of other animals sometimes! He couldn’t stand for me to pet my lab instead of him but I think he will do fine in a house with another dog.. cats really unsure of this because he hasn’t been around any! He loves to go OUTSIDE! I have a fenced yard and he stays out there for a good while sometimes! I will update as soon as I can think of more to write!

Merlin (aka Pom-Pom) is a Toy Poodle that really wants a forever home and a person to love.  He is approximately 6 years old and this little fur ball weighs only about five pounds. But it's five pounds of pure love.

Some of you may recall that I moved to Nevada from New Jersey about 10 months ago.  Before I moved I had him in my home as a foster companion for about 2 months.  So here’s what I can tell you about him from personal experience.
  • He loves all dogs and cats but would also be happy as an only child if you'll give him lots of love.
  • He likes nothing better than snuggling in your lap.  But if you can't do that 24 hours each day he's perfectly happy and secure to hang out in his little house (pictured above) or on the furniture if that's OK with you (Poodles really don't shed and are hypo-allergenic so letting him on the furniture is no problem for me).
  • He LOVES to go for walks or wander about my backyard and read the ground newspaper.
  • He's a bit of a fragile little guy at that size and should be in a home with adults only or one with older children. He spent a weekend with my 12 year old nephew and they fell madly in love.  The poor kid couldn't take a single step without his little shadow following him.
  • He's a little bit shy when he first meets you but warms up very quickly and likes to be held and give kisses.
  • He's a bit afraid of men so a home with women only would be best. But he will warm up to a man in time.  So if you have the patience to give him that time he'll end up loving you back!
  • It certainly won't cost much to feed him.  He nibbles at kibble during the day.  And when I gave him chicken stew one night and beef stew the next he made it very clear he likes meet, rice, and cheese - but not so big on the veggies!  Abandoned Angels Rescue told me he also likes hot dogs.  I picked some up for him and he does like them.  But he has a tiny little appetite and should be given food or snacks several times per day.
  • He is completely housebroken and knows to let you know when it's time to go outside.
He is available for adoption through Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue. If you've been looking for a little purse or lap dog without going through the puppy issues this guy would be perfect for you.  And he'd be a great companion for an elderly person who'd give him a lot of love.
Contact Abandoned Angels or All Dogs Welcome to inquire about this special little guy.

UPDATE:   MARTY ADOPTED

Marty the Smarty is an adorable, 2.5 year old, 16 pound, male Doxie. He's a smooth-coated, red boy with a bit of a black overlay to his shiny coat. He is neutered and crate trained and working hard on that pesky house breaking thing.  But he does really well with the doggie door.  He loves children, other dogs and even cats!  Just look at the pix below.  That's great for a Doxie.
Marty's foster Mom wanted us to know a lot more about him.  Here's what she had to say:
Marty is an adorable Smarty pants!  Hence the nick name! He has loads of personality and loves loves people!  He longs to sleep in the big bed, follow his person everywhere and take plenty of long walks!  He loves playing with other dogs, cats, kids or himself!   He is quite a smart boy, figuring things out here very quickly.   He used the doggie door within the first 5 minutes here!  He figured out how to open the gate keeping him out of the forbidden carpeted living room, in about 15 minutes.  Marty has a lot of love to give!  He may even be Therapy dog material.  He is a very special boy.  In rescue he is the unusual, he shows no evidence of a damaged psyche, instead he is bursting with enthusiasm for life, despite coming from a breeder situation.   Marty would excel in a home with opportunities to keep his active mind learning all the time!  If you have been dreaming of the perfect companion that will bond heart to heart with you, who will run for the door when you pick up your keys, who beats you to the sofa when you are ready to relax, who will snuggle against you all night long, well look no further!
If you are interested in adopting Marty please visit his personal profile page, visit Furever Dachshund Recue's website or email his foster Mom, DeeAnn at deesdawgs@aol.com for more information.
