Meet COOKIE, one of the sweetest little seniors out there! She is furry laid back, mild mannered and full of kisses and love that she demonstrates freely! Even though she’s 11 she still has energy to do what she wants. Her favorite past time is to watch the squirrels and fend her fosters honor by pawtekting them from those pesky varmints!

My BIO:
Hi!€ My name is Cookie. I am a lovable, mild-mannered, laid back girl. I like kids. My parents recently split and couldn’t take me with them. I think I’ve adapted well although I do need a lot of love and attention because I’m concerned about being abandoned again, thinking maybe I had done something wrong.  My foster parents and step foster parents have shown me lots of love, hugs and kisses and have let me know that I am still very special and someone is out there just waiting for me to give me a good home. My temporary home has two dachshunds and a temporary Dachsie visitor and I stayed with another really great foster mom for a week and they had kids and a cat and I just loved staying with those kids and I was very interested in the cat who was having none of it, so not sure of what I would have done if I could have got close...
I love to curl up on the couch next to you and give you lots of kisses or snuggle down under my blankie in my bed. I walk well with a harness but fight the collar. My foster mom just put in a doggie door and I love that! I can go outside anytime I want so I have become a huge lover of the outdoors and squirrel watching is my new favorite hobby. My other favorite thing in the whole wide world is curling up in my warm toastie pet cave. I also enjoy treats and am always anxious for a good meal, obviously I am a dachshund! I know my bio says that I am 11 years old, but except for the beautiful white nose, you wouldn’t know it. I'm very laid back and don't bark. But it alos makes me eligible for that special program called Seniors Loving Seniors! I’m not cranky or sluggish, but I’m not a bounce off the wall young pup either. I’m just right, right in the middle, with just enough energy to have fun with you or just chill out with you.
Will you please consider giving me a permanent home?

If you would like to learn more about me please contact my foster Mom, Charlotte Mixon, at fureverdachsie@yahoo.com. I currently reside in North Caroline but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will help to arrange volunteer or paid transport to get me to my new home.

Max

Picture
Max came to the rescue as a stray, he was found wandering the streets. A Good Samaritan found him, took him to a shelter, then notified the rescue! We pulled him as soon as we could!

Max is a very friendly, loveable boy! He has a “happy-go-lucky” attitude and just goes with the flow of things! He loves to be outside! Loves to play with other dogs and loves to be around children!

We are working on simple basic commands such as sit and stay (he’s pretty good at the “stay”, but we are working on the “sit”… his butt wiggles so much when he sits, that he can’t keep still!) We are also working on his manners (he’s a bit of a wild man right now)!  He is great with my grandson, who is almost 3, but we are working with Max to not jump on small children and to not to take food from their hands, unless offered.

Max is crate trained and does not mind being in the crate. But he would much rather be out playing or in your lap for a snuggle though!

He is currently a “work in progress” when it comes to potty training. He’s been very good if kept to a strict schedule, and has started to scratch/paw at the door when he wants to go out. He is catching on quickly! He is a very smart boy!

Max would do best with someone that would be able to take him for long walks or will have a fenced in yard for him to play in! If you have a child and another doxie to play with, that would be even better!

Max does not know that the word “stranger” exists in the human vocabulary! Every human or dog that he comes into contact with, he is eager to meet and eager to please!

Please feel free to contact his foster momma if you have any other questions or would like more info!! Amanda at rablack05@gmail.com

Max is located in Arkansas. Transport (paid or volunteer) can be arranged to get Max to his furever home!

Bonnie and Clyde

ADOPTED!!!

Meet Bonnie and Clyde! They are a very bonded couple that wish to be adopted together. Bonnie is a 4 year old red long haired Doxie and her friend Clyde is a 6 year old black and tan long haired Doxie. She's a little girl at just 8 pounds and he's only slightly bigger at 10 pounds. Twice the love in just a little bit of space!!!
This adorable couple came into rescue as strays so not much is known about their past. But their foster Mom told us this about them:

Both of these babies love to play with toys and give sweet little kisses. They adore people and would love nothing more then to spend the evening watching TV and snuggling with their each other and their people. They love to be outside too but must be supervised closely as they are both quite the little escape artists. Both are also crate trained but would prefer to sleep with you.

Bonnie is a wonderful little sweetheart but she has a couple of issues we are working on. She gets along well with other dogs but can be lap aggressive. She also does not do well with cats. The urge to chase is just too great.

Clyde has a special affection for men. He wants nothing more than to be your new little buddy.
Bonnie and Clyde currently reside in Tennessee but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist you in finding transport. If you are interested in learning more about Bonnie and Clyde please visit their personal profile page or contact their foster Mom Lisa at lrdillard72@gmail.com. Remember, these little darlings are being offered as a bonded pair and should be adopted together!

Misty

Picture
Misty is about 5 years old and about 15.5 pounds. This poor baby lost her person recently and just wants someone new to share her life and love. Misty wants you know a bit more about her:

BIO: My name is Misty. My dad died about three months ago. I really miss him a lot and I LOVE the company of men. I guess you could call me a “Daddy’s Girl” When I got to my foster home I attached myself very quickly to my foster dad. I do love everyone I live with though! So no worries.

I am great around kids of any age, and I love the other dogs that I am living with. I am not really much into playing and acting goofy. I just prefer to sit next to you on the couch or curl up at your feet. If you need a bed warmer I am your girl! I love to burrow under the blankets and sleep right next to you. Oh yes, I must have a soft doggie bed to lay in too. They are the best!!

I don’t bark a lot, but if I can’t sit next to you or if you disappear in the house I get kind of worried and will whine so you know I need you. As soon as we find each other, I get so happy, I run in circles and whine even more!!!

I do OK on a leash, and continue to get better at it. I didn’t walk much in my former life, but foster mom says I am doing well with this. And car rides?? Umm..I'm not a big fan. They make me a little anxious. So we when I go somewhere I need to be in a crate. Or held by someone.

If you like a girl who has a silly little tongue that hangs out, just wants to be by your side and will love you unconditionally, then I am the right girl for you!!! So send my foster mom Vicki an email....OK?!?!

Misty currently resides in Ohio but Furever Dachshund rescue encourages out of state adoptions. If you are interested in learning more about Misty please view her personal profile or contact her foster Mom Vicki at Snickvw19@aol.com.

Hi! My name is Romeo. I am a loving, laid back regal middle aged Doxie. I like kids. My parents recently split and couldn’t take me with them. I think I’ve adapted well although I do try extra hard to show you how much I love you and need your attention because I’m concerned about being abandoned again. My foster parents and step foster parents have shown me lots of love, hugs and kisses and have let me know that I am still very special and someone is out there just waiting for me to give me a good home. My temporary home has two dachshunds and a temporary Doxie visitor and I stayed with another really great foster mom for a week and they had kids and a cat and I did great.
I love to curl up on the couch next to you snuggled down under my blankie. I walk well with a harness only but fight the collar. I enjoy treats and am always anxious for a good meal. I am 10, but show no signs of slowing down anytime soon. I love to play with a ball if you will bounce it or throw it, I’ll fetch it and bring it back to you and even play some keep away with you. I’m basically quiet and don’t get upset with passing cars or squirrels in the yard. Will you please consider giving me a permanent home?

Romeo described himself as a 'regal middle aged' boy. But the truth is he's 10 years old and that makes him eligible for Furever Dachshund Rescues Seniors Loving Seniors Program. Fred

ADOPTED

Picture
Fred is a very handsome, 4 year old red, 17 lb. smooth coat, classic dachshund. He has wonderful big ears and large paws. His soulful expression will melt a heart. He loves to play with his pack buddies and once all tuckered out, he will gladly occupy a lap. Fred is happy to sleep on the big bed or in his own as long as it is nearby. He loves to chase toys and his tail! He is not food aggressive but will occasionally defend his sole possession of a lap. He would do well as both an only dog or as part of a dog family. He is not a barker unless he feels challenged by an intruder. He is good with respectful children of all ages. Fred is housetrained but should be put on a schedule until he learns the ropes and new surroundings. He is neutered, chipped, had a recent dental and is UTD all his vaccinations.

Fred currently reside in North Carolina. But Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions. If you are interested in learning more about him please view his personal profile or contact his foster Mom Fredricka at mynewlyfe@bellsouth.net.

My name is Cowboy. I’m a sweet 7 month old boy (at the time of this post). I was born in July of 2012. My family kept me in the backyard and in the laundry room. When they moved they weren’t able to take me. I’m learning how to be loved and how to be with a family. I get along with other dogs. I love to sit in laps and be held. I also like to sleep in the big bed and snuggle.

Cowboy weighs about 3 pounds right now and should max out at about 15 pounds when full grown.  Since he was basically kept in the yard he was not housebroken or crate trained. But he is working on it!

Cowboy currently reside in Alabama. But Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions. If you are interested in learning more about him please view his personal profile or contact his foster Mom Kristen at Kristen_dawson2008@yahoo.com.
