Greetings and thank you for stopping by to visit with me, my name is Dior and I am a very handsome, chocolate long haired dachshund. My foster mom says I'm gorgeous because I have a red tingle to my fur. I was a bit overweight when I came into rescue but I've lost the extra weight and now I am the perfect shape and size. I am a very calm boy and great companion for someone without children, I particularly like men but I live in a home with my foster mom and I love her very much. I absolutely do not want to live with children again because I did not enjoy being carried around and having my tag tugged on. I would much rather get belly rubs and chill on my blankie by your feet.
I am a great leash walker and I am completely crate and house trained. I like toys but I don't like to share them with other dogs so toys are off limits for me in my foster home because I am too possessive of my toys. I also like my food and I get fed in my crate because I don't like other dogs trying to eat my food. I also don't like quick moving folks or surprises; they startle me and I get grumpy. Oh and I almost forgot; I don't do well with nail trims either. I get along great with my foster siblings and I really don't mind having other dogs as companions but I like people much better. If I could be an only dachshund, spoiled rotten, then that would be the ideal home for me because I think that I am pretty darn cool!
Before coming to FDR, I was with a local rescue in Orlando and they were really nice to me, but they don't specialize in dachshunds. My first family had children and I was a bit nippy since they played too rough with me, but I do really love people. I am eager to please and extremely obedient. If you are the kind of home that wants a great companion, a good car rider and nice stroll buddy, I am your man!
If you think you can give me a furever home or would just like to learn more about me please visit my personal profile page or contact my foster Mom Julia at email@example.com.
By the way, I currently reside in Vermont. But these great folks at Furever Dachshund Rescue say I can travel and they will help find transport for a great home!
My family named me Rookie because I was the Rookie of the family when they adopted me as a young puppy. Unfortunately they were unable to keep me any longer but wanted to make sure that I was safe and went to a great home so they surrendered me to FDR. I am now being fostered with other dachshunds and I enjoy their company very much! I even like to play with the large female pitty that is so gentle with me. She must know that I am very tiny compared to her.
I am just a young puppy, only 7 months old, but my foster mom says that I am gorgeous! I have bright, clear blue eyes and a beautiful silver coat with black and tan dappling all over and white accents. I am very playful and I love my toys, especially the stuffing free squeaky toys; they are the best! I’m also very snuggly at night and love, love, love the “Big Bed” so I hope you will allow me to sleep in your “Big Bed” too! I am still learning the whole house training thing so you will need to be patient with me but I am a quick learner and if you have another dachshund that can show me the ropes, that would be even better!
My foster mom has noticed that I can bit a bit timid around new people but once I get to know you I am fine. I’m not really happy about men; they kinda scare me so I might need a home with a guy that is willing to work with me. I came from a home with a mom and dad and two young children so I’m sure I would be fine around guys it just might take me time to warm up. I’m a really good boy and I ride very well in the car if you allow me in your lap.
I’m also a great companion! I love to follow you around and help you with your chores. I know my name and respond well and I will do just about anything for a treat! I can be trained to potty outside, use a doggy door and probably do tricks too! My foster mom says that I am very intelligent; I would tend to agree! If you think that I might be the puppy you want to give a loving and patient home to please fill out an application to adopt me. I can’t wait to meet you!
Rookie currently resides in Vermont but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist with finding transport if needed. If you would like to learn more about Rookie please visit his personal profile page or contact his foster Mom Julia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Max and Kiki are being offered by Furever Dachshund Rescue as a bonded pair.
Maximus and Kiki have been together since the very beginning. They are true miniature, senior dachshunds. They say that opposites attract and these two define that phrase. Maximus is very energetic and outgoing. He is playful and vocal and will do just about anything for attention. Kiki on the other hand is very laid-back and relaxed. She too will vie for your attention but it just as content to curl up on your lap or next to you on the sofa and just snooze. Because they are an older couple; they are very easy to care for. Potty training was mastered a long time ago and the challenges of puppyhood no longer are an issue.
Maximus and Kiki are very tiny and very sweet. Don’t let their size or attitude fool you though; they would make wonderful walking pals for someone who enjoys a long stroll or a brisk walk. Of course they love bed time and all its privileges which means they absolutely expect to sleep in the big bed. No worries though, these two are so small you will hardly notice they are in bed with you. They sleep well and eat well and once they learn your routine will be completely accommodating to your schedule. This pair is one of the easiest dachshund couples I have ever met. Would you be willing to offer them a wonderful furever home?
Max and Kiki currently reside in Massachusetts but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist you in finding transport. If you are interested in learning more about them please visit their personal profile page or contact her foster Mom Laura at email@example.com.
I was an owner surrender. My dad had to give me up because he lost his job and then his apartment. It has always been just my dad and me living in NYC and so I got used to being the center of his attention. I haven’t spent much time with women so I much prefer to be adopted by a guy. I am a small standard dachshund and my foster dad tells me that I am very handsome.
I can do some really neat tricks like sit on my haunches and shake. I am very affectionate and love to sleep in the big bed with my dad. I grew up in NYC so I am used to being an apartment dog and I walk very well on a leash. I am also completely house trained. I have never been crated so on rare occasion when I am; I do not like it very much and get stressed out. I have Epilepsy so I require daily dosages of medication but I don’t mind because my foster dad gives them to me in a treat, yummy! I am a very well behaved boy and still very active. You would never guess that I am 9 years old because I have no greys! I am looking for a very special person to adopt me because of my Epilepsy. Other than that one health issue I am very happy and healthy and am expected to live a long life. If you are the person looking for a companion to spend time with and walk with then I am the dachshund you are looking for. I make a great companion and am always looking for ways to make you smile!
Nathan currently resides in Massachusetts but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist you in finding transport. Meet COOKIE, one of the sweetest little seniors out there! She is furry laid back, mild mannered and full of kisses and love that she demonstrates freely! Even though she’s 11 she still has energy to do what she wants. Her favorite past time is to watch the squirrels and fend her fosters honor by pawtekting them from those pesky varmints!
Hi!€ My name is Cookie. I am a lovable, mild-mannered, laid back girl. I like kids. My parents recently split and couldn’t take me with them. I think I’ve adapted well although I do need a lot of love and attention because I’m concerned about being abandoned again, thinking maybe I had done something wrong. My foster parents and step foster parents have shown me lots of love, hugs and kisses and have let me know that I am still very special and someone is out there just waiting for me to give me a good home. My temporary home has two dachshunds and a temporary Dachsie visitor and I stayed with another really great foster mom for a week and they had kids and a cat and I just loved staying with those kids and I was very interested in the cat who was having none of it, so not sure of what I would have done if I could have got close...
I love to curl up on the couch next to you and give you lots of kisses or snuggle down under my blankie in my bed. I walk well with a harness but fight the collar. My foster mom just put in a doggie door and I love that! I can go outside anytime I want so I have become a huge lover of the outdoors and squirrel watching is my new favorite hobby. My other favorite thing in the whole wide world is curling up in my warm toastie pet cave. I also enjoy treats and am always anxious for a good meal, obviously I am a dachshund! I know my bio says that I am 11 years old, but except for the beautiful white nose, you wouldn’t know it. I'm very laid back and don't bark. But it alos makes me eligible for that special program called Seniors Loving Seniors! I’m not cranky or sluggish, but I’m not a bounce off the wall young pup either. I’m just right, right in the middle, with just enough energy to have fun with you or just chill out with you.
Will you please consider giving me a permanent home?
If you would like to learn more about me please visit my personal profile page or contact my foster Mom, Charlotte Mixon, at email@example.com. I currently reside in North Caroline but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will help to arrange volunteer or paid transport to get me to my new home.
Greetings my new furever family, my name is Drakeo and I am quiet the charmer ! I love to play fetch and am quite good at bringing the ball back. I am very energetic and love to play with my stuffing-free squeaky toys! I am totally house trained and love my fenced back yard; I'm even learning how to use the doggy door! In the evening after a long day of playing I am the perfect cuddle buddy and will slide under the covers to sleep the whole night through. I am crate trained and leash trained, but I do like to take the leash and help you walk me ! I am not much of a barker and am a bit shy when I first meet new people but I really warm up quickly and love to give kisses. My foster mom says I am a very special little guy and will make a great new family member, are you the one? If you want to learn more about me please contact my foster Mom - Julia, at firstname.lastname@example.org.

Max came to the rescue as a stray, he was found wandering the streets. A Good Samaritan found him, took him to a shelter, then notified the rescue! We pulled him as soon as we could!
Max is a very friendly, loveable boy! He has a “happy-go-lucky” attitude and just goes with the flow of things! He loves to be outside! Loves to play with other dogs and loves to be around children!
We are working on simple basic commands such as sit and stay (he’s pretty good at the “stay”, but we are working on the “sit”… his butt wiggles so much when he sits, that he can’t keep still!) We are also working on his manners (he’s a bit of a wild man right now)! He is great with my grandson, who is almost 3, but we are working with Max to not jump on small children and to not to take food from their hands, unless offered.
Max is crate trained and does not mind being in the crate. But he would much rather be out playing or in your lap for a snuggle though!
He is currently a “work in progress” when it comes to potty training. He’s been very good if kept to a strict schedule, and has started to scratch/paw at the door when he wants to go out. He is catching on quickly! He is a very smart boy!
Max would do best with someone that would be able to take him for long walks or will have a fenced in yard for him to play in! If you have a child and another doxie to play with, that would be even better!
Max does not know that the word “stranger” exists in the human vocabulary! Every human or dog that he comes into contact with, he is eager to meet and eager to please!
Please feel free to contact his foster momma if you have any other questions or would like more info!! Amanda at email@example.com
Max is located in Arkansas. Transport (paid or volunteer) can be arranged to get Max to his furever home!
Meet Bonnie and Clyde! They are a very bonded couple that wish to be adopted together. Bonnie is a 4 year old red long haired Doxie and her friend Clyde is a 6 year old black and tan long haired Doxie. She's a little girl at just 8 pounds and he's only slightly bigger at 10 pounds. Twice the love in just a little bit of space!!!
This adorable couple came into rescue as strays so not much is known about their past. But their foster Mom told us this about them:
Both of these babies love to play with toys and give sweet little kisses. They adore people and would love nothing more then to spend the evening watching TV and snuggling with their each other and their people. They love to be outside too but must be supervised closely as they are both quite the little escape artists. Both are also crate trained but would prefer to sleep with you.
Bonnie is a wonderful little sweetheart but she has a couple of issues we are working on. She gets along well with other dogs but can be lap aggressive. She also does not do well with cats. The urge to chase is just too great.
Clyde has a special affection for men. He wants nothing more than to be your new little buddy.
Bonnie and Clyde currently reside in Tennessee but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist you in finding transport. If you are interested in learning more about Bonnie and Clyde please visit their personal profile page or contact their foster Mom Lisa at firstname.lastname@example.org. Remember, these little darlings are being offered as a bonded pair and should be adopted together!
Misty is about 5 years old and about 15.5 pounds. This poor baby lost her person recently and just wants someone new to share her life and love. Misty wants you know a bit more about her:
BIO: My name is Misty. My dad died about three months ago. I really miss him a lot and I LOVE the company of men. I guess you could call me a “Daddy’s Girl” When I got to my foster home I attached myself very quickly to my foster dad. I do love everyone I live with though! So no worries.
I am great around kids of any age, and I love the other dogs that I am living with. I am not really much into playing and acting goofy. I just prefer to sit next to you on the couch or curl up at your feet. If you need a bed warmer I am your girl! I love to burrow under the blankets and sleep right next to you. Oh yes, I must have a soft doggie bed to lay in too. They are the best!!
I don’t bark a lot, but if I can’t sit next to you or if you disappear in the house I get kind of worried and will whine so you know I need you. As soon as we find each other, I get so happy, I run in circles and whine even more!!!
I do OK on a leash, and continue to get better at it. I didn’t walk much in my former life, but foster mom says I am doing well with this. And car rides?? Umm..I'm not a big fan. They make me a little anxious. So we when I go somewhere I need to be in a crate. Or held by someone.
If you like a girl who has a silly little tongue that hangs out, just wants to be by your side and will love you unconditionally, then I am the right girl for you!!! So send my foster mom Vicki an email....OK?!?!Misty currently resides in Ohio but Furever Dachshund rescue encourages out of state adoptions. If you are interested in learning more about Misty please view her personal profile or contact her foster Mom Vicki at Snickvw19@aol.com.
