Moose

Can you foster or adopt Moose. He is a three-year-old, male, shepherd and husky mix. He was saved from a kill shelter after testing positive for heartworm.

Since then, Moose was adopted but when it wasn't working out, he was left at a vet after receiving his last heartworm treatment. Moose is understandably devastated, as he was starting to bond closely with his former owner. He desperately needs a comfortable place to recover from his heartworm treatment, and that place is not a kennel! Moose is a magnificent animal and needs to find someone who recognizes that and will work with him through his trust issues.  We cannot believe that more people haven’t shown interest in him. He has a very charismatic personality and is drop dead gorgeous. Will anybody step up for Moose? He needs a quiet, comfortable place to rest without the distraction of other animals and small children.

Please contact Famous Fido Rescue at 773-907-0305 or Fido@famousfidorescue.com if you or someone you know can foster or adopt Moose.

Peanut

12/28/2012

Courtesy post for Wagging Dog Rescue

Peanut is a soft and beautiful German Shepherd mix. She is house broken and crate trained, loves people and other dogs. But we're not sure how she feels about cats.

Peanut is considered a special needs gal as she has a condition called idiopathic epilepsy. Don't get nervous! It simply means that she is inclined to have seizures but the disorder can be controlled with daily medication.

Peanut wanted to let you know more about herself so she wrote this little bio for you to read:

Hi! My name's Peanut.

I'm a super sweet, beautiful 3 year old gal who seems to be a German Shepherd mix. I'm mixed into a petite package at only 46 pounds. I have the cutest face complete with forehead wrinkles and a widow's peak! I also have the most luxurious soft fur coat in golden tan and black. I'm great with kids and I just LOVE other dogs. My foster parents say I'm a really good house pet.

About 8 or 9 months ago I started having seizures, and then my family abandoned me. They were going to dump me at the shelter where I probably would not have made it out. However, my luck changed and Wagging Dog Rescue and a Good Samaritan helped me to get better, and now I am ready for a Furever Home with a loving and responsible family to call my own. I have already seen the rescue vet, and he says I have idiopathic epilepsy, something that quite a few dogs get, it turns out.

I'm a really good girl and I know somebody is going to be very lucky to have me. I will make a great addition to just about any caring family, and it would be so nice to have another doggie companion for me to play with in my Forever Home. Everyone who meets me falls madly in L♡VE, and I have lots of love to give in return. Do you think I could give it to you?? Do you have room in your life for the sweetest nut around?

Please email The Rescue Lady at info@waggingdog.org if you'd like to meet me! I'm current on my vaccines, spayed and microchipped. Application, home visit, adoption fee and contract required. Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Diego counties. I am being fostered in OCEANSIDE CA.

Alfie

08/05/2012

Courtesty post for Millbrook Animal Centre

ADOPTED

Meet Alfie, a 2-3 year old Husky / German Shepherd mix
Alfie came into the Centre because he was a homeless person's dog. As a result he has never had a real home before. Despite this Alfie is a lovely boy who loves the company of humans. He took part in a program run for youth offenders to give them a sense of responsibility. They have to train him to a Bronze Training Award Standard. Alfie and his young person got on so well, he had cracked the training in no time and has received the award! We don't think Alfie had ever been on a lead before he came to Millbrook, as a result he can be a bit strong. However once he is on face halti he walks really well. He can also be a bit grumpy with dogs on the lead, again possibly due to never being on a lead before. However he is lovely with them off lead and even shares his favourite toys, tennis balls with them! As a result we think he could be a 2nd dog if the right home came along. Speaking of tennis balls, he could be the next British hope for Wimbledon! He is so skilled! He will leave them and sit and wait for you to throw them too. Due to the breeds he is, he will need lots of exercise and stimulation. He will also need love and cuddles as he loves people! Alfie is a real character, and we can't wait to see him in his forever home!  Alfie is fully vaccinated, castrated, microchipped and received flea treatment.
Alfie currently resides at the Millbrook Animal Centre.  If you are unable to adopt but wish to help please follow him on twitter at @AlfieTheHuskyX.

You can also find more about him on their website.

Courtesy post for Pawsibilities Rescue

Picture
This stylish little lady is a Shepherd mix of about 3 years of age.  The rescue believes she is likely an Anatolian Shepherd / Basenji mix. According to Pawsibilities she is a real "Man's" dog. She loves children and men, gets along with other girls but would rather hang out with the guys. She knows exactly what she wants and she goes for it. Linda could care less if you bought her a new gift or gave her an old tree stump to chew on (true story) All she asks for is a good walk, a nice 5 foot high fenced in yard to drag her tree stump around and maybe a truck ride here and there or just some of your attention.

If you are interested in learning more about Linda please visit her personal profile page or contact Pawsibilities Rescue at pawsibilities@ymail.com. Pawsibilities is a foster based rescue program only with no physical facility.  They are currently full and in need of Fosters and Adopters. If you are interested in fostering dogs in need please mail: pawsibilities@ymail.com

UPDATE:  SHAWNA ADOPTED

Hello, my name is Shawna. I am a two-year-old Shepherd mix with a relaxed, gentle temperament and a smile for everyone. People say I look like a small ridgeback (without the ridge!); I have golden eyes and a tan coat complimented by a black nose and a black-tipped tail. On arrival in DC I spent one night with a foster family and made myself at home right away! I had great fun playing with my foster siblings and delighted my foster mother by learning some basic commands in record time. I walk well on a leash and love being out and about, but most of all I am looking forward to chilling and snuggling with a family of my own.

If you are interested in adopting me please visit my personal profile page, visit the City Dogs Rescue website or email City Dogs Rescue for more information about me.

UPDATE:  DEXTER ADOPTED
Hi, I am Dexter.  I am a handsome Shepherd/Shar Pei/Lab mix.  I like to play tug-o-war with my leash. I have a big booming bark that means I want attention. I am great with all sizes of dogs, puppies included as long as they aren't dominant dogs. I wound up at the shelter because my owner could not care for me anymore (for reasons unrelated to me).

To learn more about adopting Dexter please visit his personal profile page or contact City Dogs Rescue at Adopt@CityDogsRescueDC.org and ask about Dexter.
