Meet Sasha the Labrador Retriever mix
This little lady is spayed, up to date on her shots and heartworm free. She has been a house dog for these last years, is house broken, and gets along well with children and other dogs. At the moment she has an ear infection and is in need of dental cleaning. And she has been described as 'puppy like' in her behavior. So don't let that age unknown issue be a drawback!!! She has some skin tags and her vet thinks she is approximately 10 years old.
Sasha is a drop dead gorgeous girl of questionable age. Her people adopted her from a shelter about 5 years ago and her age at that time was unknown. So now she is about 5 years older than she was then. And unfortunately their situation has changed and they can no longer afford to care for her. Her people would very much like to find a rescue, foster, or permanent home for her in order to avoid surrendering her to a shelter - or worse!
If you are interested in helping Sasha find her final furever home please contact Courtney at Courtney.Nelon24@Yahoo.com or call at 8178797887. Sasha's family with surrender her along with a couple of bags of Blue Buffalo dog food and a supply of heartworm prevention. And if she is take in by a foster or rescue they will also offer a donation.
Greetings and thank you for stopping by to visit with me, my name is Dior and I am a very handsome, chocolate long haired dachshund. My foster mom says I'm gorgeous because I have a red tingle to my fur. I was a bit overweight when I came into rescue but I've lost the extra weight and now I am the perfect shape and size. I am a very calm boy and great companion for someone without children, I particularly like men but I live in a home with my foster mom and I love her very much. I absolutely do not want to live with children again because I did not enjoy being carried around and having my tag tugged on. I would much rather get belly rubs and chill on my blankie by your feet.
I am a great leash walker and I am completely crate and house trained. I like toys but I don't like to share them with other dogs so toys are off limits for me in my foster home because I am too possessive of my toys. I also like my food and I get fed in my crate because I don't like other dogs trying to eat my food. I also don't like quick moving folks or surprises; they startle me and I get grumpy. Oh and I almost forgot; I don't do well with nail trims either. I get along great with my foster siblings and I really don't mind having other dogs as companions but I like people much better. If I could be an only dachshund, spoiled rotten, then that would be the ideal home for me because I think that I am pretty darn cool!
Before coming to FDR, I was with a local rescue in Orlando and they were really nice to me, but they don't specialize in dachshunds. My first family had children and I was a bit nippy since they played too rough with me, but I do really love people. I am eager to please and extremely obedient. If you are the kind of home that wants a great companion, a good car rider and nice stroll buddy, I am your man!
If you think you can give me a furever home or would just like to learn more about me please visit my personal profile page or contact my foster Mom Julia at firstname.lastname@example.org.
By the way, I currently reside in Vermont. But these great folks at Furever Dachshund Rescue say I can travel and they will help find transport for a great home!
My family named me Rookie because I was the Rookie of the family when they adopted me as a young puppy. Unfortunately they were unable to keep me any longer but wanted to make sure that I was safe and went to a great home so they surrendered me to FDR. I am now being fostered with other dachshunds and I enjoy their company very much! I even like to play with the large female pitty that is so gentle with me. She must know that I am very tiny compared to her.
I am just a young puppy, only 7 months old, but my foster mom says that I am gorgeous! I have bright, clear blue eyes and a beautiful silver coat with black and tan dappling all over and white accents. I am very playful and I love my toys, especially the stuffing free squeaky toys; they are the best! I’m also very snuggly at night and love, love, love the “Big Bed” so I hope you will allow me to sleep in your “Big Bed” too! I am still learning the whole house training thing so you will need to be patient with me but I am a quick learner and if you have another dachshund that can show me the ropes, that would be even better!
My foster mom has noticed that I can bit a bit timid around new people but once I get to know you I am fine. I’m not really happy about men; they kinda scare me so I might need a home with a guy that is willing to work with me. I came from a home with a mom and dad and two young children so I’m sure I would be fine around guys it just might take me time to warm up. I’m a really good boy and I ride very well in the car if you allow me in your lap.
I’m also a great companion! I love to follow you around and help you with your chores. I know my name and respond well and I will do just about anything for a treat! I can be trained to potty outside, use a doggy door and probably do tricks too! My foster mom says that I am very intelligent; I would tend to agree! If you think that I might be the puppy you want to give a loving and patient home to please fill out an application to adopt me. I can’t wait to meet you!
Rookie currently resides in Vermont but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist with finding transport if needed. If you would like to learn more about Rookie please visit his personal profile page or contact his foster Mom Julia at email@example.com.
Hi, I’m Bobby. Am I not the cutest thing you’ve ever seen? I lived my whole life in a puppy mill so when I arrived at foster mom’s, it was a brand new world for me. I didn’t know how to eat from a bowl, had no idea what “treats” were, had never seen toys, would run from everyone who tried to approach me, and wouldn’t even come inside out of the rain. Well, there were two other doxies there who looked like me and they took me under their wings. Have I come a long way…I eat (well, maybe it’s inhale) my food from a bowl, absolutely love treats, steal toys, want to be picked up so that I can snuggle next to any available human, and in typical doxie fashion, have decided rain isn’t much fun. I’m getting much better at pottying outside too and, even though I’m still a work in progress, I do gravitate toward potty pads.
I had to see a cardiologist because everyone kept saying I have a heart murmur whatever that is. Well, I guess he confirmed it and I should have another echocardiogram in a year but…don’t let that scare you. Apparently I don’t know I have it because I have no symptoms and I’m as lively as a two-year old. I love to greet foster mom when she comes home from work with barks and my unique “Bobby dance”. I also bark at her if I don’t think she gets my food down fast enough – I think this is pretty cute but she doesn’t like it so much; I guess I might stop that if I didn’t get one of the other doxies going too.
She has two other furry critters called cats. I may have seen such things before I came here but no one’s sure. Anyway, I kinda like the old one because he just keeps to himself; the big, young one is trouble and I avoid him at all costs! I love to play with the furbabies like me – we run and run and run together. When bedtime rolls around, just give me a treat and let me sleep in my bed in your room – I don’t even want to be in the big bed. Oh, one more thing…one of the doxies turned me on to a canvas grill cover – there’s nothing better than sunning out on the deck on that canvas!
So, now that I’ve discovered what it’s like to be a pet and found I really like it, can you find room in your home to take me in? I promise to love you (and shadow you) and I don’t take up much room.Bobby currently resides in Virginia but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoption and will assist with finding transport if needed. If you are interested in learning more about Bobby please visit his personal profile page or contact his foster Mom Diane at firstname.lastname@example.org.
A volunteer at German Shorthaired Pointer Rescue of NJ contacted me in hopes that together we can find a home for Gerry. He is a 3 year old male GSP mix who is quite large for his breed at 60+ pounds. Gerry came into foster care from a shelter and displayed a lack of manners and training and could have been described as a bit hyper when meeting people or dogs. He has now been in foster care for many months, has completed his basic class at Fiesty Fidos and is now enrolled in the next level of training. In fact, check out Gerry's YouTube channel and the videos demonstrating the great progress he's made. You can also learn more about Gerry and his rescue organization by visiting their Facebook page.
Gerry is a happy and healthy dog that absolutely cherishes contact with humans! He has displayed some minor issues with other dogs and therefor would do well as an only dog. Though with an experienced handler and continued socialization it is likely he would learn to be accepting of his four legged companions.
Given his love of people we were thinking he would make a great companion for a truck driver who'd like to have a friend at his side at all times. If you are interested in learning more about Gerry please contact GSP Rescue of NJ at email@example.com.
Gerry's rescue organization would love to place him in the perfect home. Accomplishing that may take a lot of publicizing until the perfect match can be made. If you cannot adopt Gerry but would like to help please tweet this post or share it on Facebook. You can even print the flyer attached at the right and post it wherever you can to help us share Gerry and find him his forever home! Truck stops would be a great place to hang this flyer since Gerry would like to meet a trucker and travel the country with him or her!

Max and Kiki are being offered by Furever Dachshund Rescue as a bonded pair.
Maximus and Kiki have been together since the very beginning. They are true miniature, senior dachshunds. They say that opposites attract and these two define that phrase. Maximus is very energetic and outgoing. He is playful and vocal and will do just about anything for attention. Kiki on the other hand is very laid-back and relaxed. She too will vie for your attention but it just as content to curl up on your lap or next to you on the sofa and just snooze. Because they are an older couple; they are very easy to care for. Potty training was mastered a long time ago and the challenges of puppyhood no longer are an issue.
Maximus and Kiki are very tiny and very sweet. Don’t let their size or attitude fool you though; they would make wonderful walking pals for someone who enjoys a long stroll or a brisk walk. Of course they love bed time and all its privileges which means they absolutely expect to sleep in the big bed. No worries though, these two are so small you will hardly notice they are in bed with you. They sleep well and eat well and once they learn your routine will be completely accommodating to your schedule. This pair is one of the easiest dachshund couples I have ever met. Would you be willing to offer them a wonderful furever home?
Max and Kiki currently reside in Massachusetts but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist you in finding transport. If you are interested in learning more about them please visit their personal profile page or contact her foster Mom Laura at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I was an owner surrender. My dad had to give me up because he lost his job and then his apartment. It has always been just my dad and me living in NYC and so I got used to being the center of his attention. I haven’t spent much time with women so I much prefer to be adopted by a guy. I am a small standard dachshund and my foster dad tells me that I am very handsome.
I can do some really neat tricks like sit on my haunches and shake. I am very affectionate and love to sleep in the big bed with my dad. I grew up in NYC so I am used to being an apartment dog and I walk very well on a leash. I am also completely house trained. I have never been crated so on rare occasion when I am; I do not like it very much and get stressed out. I have Epilepsy so I require daily dosages of medication but I don’t mind because my foster dad gives them to me in a treat, yummy! I am a very well behaved boy and still very active. You would never guess that I am 9 years old because I have no greys! I am looking for a very special person to adopt me because of my Epilepsy. Other than that one health issue I am very happy and healthy and am expected to live a long life. If you are the person looking for a companion to spend time with and walk with then I am the dachshund you are looking for. I make a great companion and am always looking for ways to make you smile!

Ziva is a young Doxie mix - she looks to me like she may be a Chiweenie (Dachshund + Chihuahua) - but I could be wrong!!! It doesn't matter what she is because she's adorable!!!
Her foster family helped her write this little bio about herself:
I am a baby dachshund mix who needs a lot of attention. I need to be in a home with someone who can spend most of their time with me because I need to be let out frequently. I am not yet housetrained as I am just a puppy but I am crate trained and I'm doing really well with my training. I'm a playful girl who gets along well with other pets but I am petrified of large dogs so I won't do well in a home with big dogs. Because I am a puppy I am teething and like to chew on everything I can get so it's best to be in a home that can puppy proof so I don't chew on electrical cords or plants. I will only be placed in a home that has the time and experience to train and care for a puppy.
Ziva currently resides in Massachusetts but Furever Dachshund Rescue encourages out of state adoptions and will assist you in finding transport. If you are interested in learning more about her please visit her personal profile page or contact her foster Mom Laura at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Meet COOKIE, one of the sweetest little seniors out there! She is furry laid back, mild mannered and full of kisses and love that she demonstrates freely! Even though she’s 11 she still has energy to do what she wants. Her favorite past time is to watch the squirrels and fend her fosters honor by pawtekting them from those pesky varmints!
Hi!€ My name is Cookie. I am a lovable, mild-mannered, laid back girl. I like kids. My parents recently split and couldn’t take me with them. I think I’ve adapted well although I do need a lot of love and attention because I’m concerned about being abandoned again, thinking maybe I had done something wrong. My foster parents and step foster parents have shown me lots of love, hugs and kisses and have let me know that I am still very special and someone is out there just waiting for me to give me a good home. My temporary home has two dachshunds and a temporary Dachsie visitor and I stayed with another really great foster mom for a week and they had kids and a cat and I just loved staying with those kids and I was very interested in the cat who was having none of it, so not sure of what I would have done if I could have got close...
I love to curl up on the couch next to you and give you lots of kisses or snuggle down under my blankie in my bed. I walk well with a harness but fight the collar. My foster mom just put in a doggie door and I love that! I can go outside anytime I want so I have become a huge lover of the outdoors and squirrel watching is my new favorite hobby. My other favorite thing in the whole wide world is curling up in my warm toastie pet cave. I also enjoy treats and am always anxious for a good meal, obviously I am a dachshund! I know my bio says that I am 11 years old, but except for the beautiful white nose, you wouldn’t know it. I'm very laid back and don't bark. But it alos makes me eligible for that special program called Seniors Loving Seniors! I’m not cranky or sluggish, but I’m not a bounce off the wall young pup either. I’m just right, right in the middle, with just enough energy to have fun with you or just chill out with you.
Will you please consider giving me a permanent home?
If you would like to learn more about me please visit my personal profile page or contact my foster Mom, Charlotte Mixon, at email@example.com.
