ADOPTION PENDING

Thad is a handsome little Chiweenie who is 7 months old at the time of this post. He is neutered, crate trained, and working on his house breaking - but he's only a puppy! He has a beautiful red and brown smooth coat and is a tiny little guy at just 8 pounds.  He does well in the company of other dogs but has not really been around cats or young children.
Thad's foster mom wrote the following bio about him:
Thad is cute little Chiweenie -  a small sweetie!

We are unsure of his care before the shelter, but he seems to be quiet the snuggler! He is energetic at times and loves to go for a ride! He does ok on a leash, but we are working on this! He is going outside for most of his bathroom needs but has accidents sometimes! He does like to bark and sometimes chases after larger dogs! (small dog syndrome)!! He does pretty well with small dogs! He has not had a problem with one small dog yet! I can’t say how good he is with small kids but the little girl that lives next door (approx. 2yrs old) comes to the fence and pets him through the fence! He sits there and lets her do it! I am working on socializing him but he will need someone to have patience with him on this! He does get jealous of other animals sometimes! He couldn’t stand for me to pet my lab instead of him but I think he will do fine in a house with another dog.. cats really unsure of this because he hasn’t been around any! He loves to go OUTSIDE! I have a fenced yard and he stays out there for a good while sometimes! I will update as soon as I can think of more to write!

ADOPTED!

Justin is a senior, male, smooth-coated Dachshund.  He's 10 years old and that makes him eligible for the Seniors Loving Seniors Program!

He weighs 19.5 pounds but he's on a diet so he can be nice and trim and fit for you.  His coat is a beautiful brown shade with a boar overcoat.  He's working on that pesky house breaking issue, loves other dogs, and will do OK with young children that know how to act around and handle a small pet.

Justin's foster mom helped him write this bio so you could get to know more about him:
I was surrendered by my mom just recently. I lived with her since I was just a tiny baby puppy. I am a beautiful dachshund with a soft coat and a warm heart. I love being snuggled and am always lying in my foster mom’s super comfy bed. I like other dogs, but I don’t need a companion to be happy. I am extremely calm and quiet, I almost never bark. I have some dental work to be done so my foster mom has been feeding me soft food which I think is so yummy! I am not food aggressive or toy aggressive. I love everyone I meet, and am always giving kisses. As you can see I need to lose a couple of pounds. My foster mommy is going to work with me to make sure that I am trim for my new furever home! I would do well in a low key home, but higher stress doesn’t bother me either. Please adopt me and give me a furever home that I deserve!

If you are interested in adopting Justin please visit his personal profile page or email his foster Mom, Laura at laurasdoxies@gmail.com for more information.

And don't forget to check out the Seniors Loving Seniors Program for this special guy!

ADOPTED

Abner is a 3 year old long-haired Dachshund mix.  He has a beuatiful coat that is basically black with shades of brown, red, golden, orange and chestnut.  He is house broken and enjoys the company of other dogs.  He would do best in a home that did not have very young children.
Abner's foster mon wrote this bio about him:

Abner is a playful Dachshund mix that loves to cuddle.  He Loves affection and would do great in a home where he can be the center of attention!  He will fetch toys over and over again and always manages to find the softest spot in the house to take a nap.  Abner would appreciate being around people who know not to startle him.  He has grown accustomed to a fenced yard to soak up the sun and chase squirrels in, so a home where he could have that would be a plus. Abner has been a little aggressive one time when he was startled and was being pushed out of his favorite chair.  He has never shown that type of aggression towards strangers, other dogs or children since that one time.  He gets along with other dogs and would do well with a playmate.  We find him to be kind and sweet and would do best in a home with not a lot of people in and out.  Please give Abner a furever home!

If you are interested in adopting Abner please visit his personal profile page, visit Furever Dachshund Recue's website or email his foster DeeAnn, Laura at DeesDawgs@aol.com for more information.

ADOPTED!!!

Beau is a handsome,  jet black, smooth coated, 16 pound, adoptable, Dachshund.  He is 6 years old and has mastered house breaking with the help of a doggie door.  He will tolerate being crated but clearly prefers not to be.  He truly enjoys the company of other dogs, is not too fond of young children, and we're not sure how he feels about cats.
Picture
Here's what Beau's foster mom wrote about his time with her:

Beau (or Boo) has been a foster dog for a long time and deserves a great home of his own.  When he came into rescue, he had been out on his own for a long time and was a little difficult.  He is finally doing very well and needs a special home that will take time to get to know him and help him feel loved and never leave him again.
Beau would not do well as an apartment dog because he likes to bark at strange noises (like a dachshund!).  He is a character and loves to do his own thing, especially enjoying running the yard and defending his yard from the intruders (squirrels and rabbits).    Beau thinks he is the center of his universe and needs a home to call his own.  He does well with other dogs, male or female but we are not sure if he likes cats.  He would do best in a home where he can be the leader of the pack that will run and play with him.  Please give him a furever home to call his own!

Merlin (aka Pom-Pom) is a Toy Poodle that really wants a forever home and a person to love.  He is approximately 6 years old and this little fur ball weighs only about five pounds. But it's five pounds of pure love.

Some of you may recall that I moved to Nevada from New Jersey about 10 months ago.  Before I moved I had him in my home as a foster companion for about 2 months.  So here’s what I can tell you about him from personal experience.
  • He loves all dogs and cats but would also be happy as an only child if you'll give him lots of love.
  • He likes nothing better than snuggling in your lap.  But if you can't do that 24 hours each day he's perfectly happy and secure to hang out in his little house (pictured above) or on the furniture if that's OK with you (Poodles really don't shed and are hypo-allergenic so letting him on the furniture is no problem for me).
  • He LOVES to go for walks or wander about my backyard and read the ground newspaper.
  • He's a bit of a fragile little guy at that size and should be in a home with adults only or one with older children. He spent a weekend with my 12 year old nephew and they fell madly in love.  The poor kid couldn't take a single step without his little shadow following him.
  • He's a little bit shy when he first meets you but warms up very quickly and likes to be held and give kisses.
  • He's a bit afraid of men so a home with women only would be best. But he will warm up to a man in time.  So if you have the patience to give him that time he'll end up loving you back!
  • It certainly won't cost much to feed him.  He nibbles at kibble during the day.  And when I gave him chicken stew one night and beef stew the next he made it very clear he likes meet, rice, and cheese - but not so big on the veggies!  Abandoned Angels Rescue told me he also likes hot dogs.  I picked some up for him and he does like them.  But he has a tiny little appetite and should be given food or snacks several times per day.
  • He is completely housebroken and knows to let you know when it's time to go outside.
He is available for adoption through Abandoned Angels Cocker Spaniel Rescue. If you've been looking for a little purse or lap dog without going through the puppy issues this guy would be perfect for you.  And he'd be a great companion for an elderly person who'd give him a lot of love.
Contact Abandoned Angels or All Dogs Welcome to inquire about this special little guy.
