All Dogs Welcome

Well - do you?  I'm not talking about dogs that are the perfect example of their breed.  I'm talking about pure bred dogs, designer breeds, mixed breeds and mutts that are adorable or beautiful to you - their person or people.

Look at the picture of Rocky to the right of this blog.  He's a 4 year old Boston Terrier.  Did you notice he has one ear that's rounded at the top and one that's pointed?  Did you notice he has more than a bit of an underbite?  Did you notice the three buck teeth?  And he has a bit more of a snout than we'd expect to see on a perfect Boston Terrier.  But he's adorable to me!  I couldn't love him more.

So why am I asking if your dog is adorable or beautiful?  Well because I'm looking for pictures of lots and lots of dogs.  I want to fill the banner and background wallpaper of this site with photos of my viewers dogs.  I could just go get pictures of perfect specimens of all the different breeds and designer breeds.  But I'd rather fill it up with perfect pets!

So if you'd like to see the love of your life immortalized here please send pix to me at AllDogsWelcome@gmx.com.  This project will take me some time to complete but the more pix that are submitted the sooner I can complete it!

What's New

06/03/2011

Well, my Daily Dog Quotes have been getting out really late at night and I'm sorry about that.  I don't want to keep using the excuse that the move to Nevada has me too busy because that's only part of it.  I've also been having some technical difficulties.  First of all with my site editor/host and second of all with the internet service provider I chose out here.  It's been three days and my service is still not working. I have to go elsewhere at some point each day to post.  If they don't solve it by tomorrow I will have to cancel them and use another ISP.  Hopefully by Monday I'll be on a normal schedule.  And start all those site updates I promised!

I have, however, managed to post the Daily Dog Quote every day so if you missed my late night tweets go have a look at the newest Daily Dog Quotes.

Visit the Breed of the Week - the American Pit Bull Terrier - one of several wonderful bully breeds I have or will post and blog about.  The American Staffordshire Terrier will be next.  And please check out the pix of the American Pit Bull Terrier Designer Breeds and Breed Specific Rescues.  And if you are involved with a rescue for any or all breeds that I have not yet listed please submit it to this site.  I will post all rescues!

As you know I'm in Nevada now but I'm not in my own place yet.  Still staying with my son.  I should be settled in by this time next week.  But I have managed to post the Breed of the Week - the Boston Terrier. And I'm a bit in love with several of the Boston Terrier Designer Breeds.  There really are some cuties in this batch!  Boston Terriers don't have as many nicknames or AKA's as some of the other breeds I've written about, but there a a couple.

Now for all you Boston Terrier lovers out there I need your help.  I've listed a handful of Breed Specific Rescues for these charmers but I know there are many, many more.  Submit them to me so I can post them and compile a more complete list.

And just for fun have a look at the definition of the Family Dog.  It is really rather appropriate.

I've received a couple of requests for the next Breed of the Week that include the Bulldog and the American Staffordshire Terrier.  So I'll be working on one of those over the weekend to post Monday evening as always.

I finally arrived in Nevada last night where I will be staying with my son and his girlfriend until about the first of the month when my new place is ready.  Right now I'm sitting out on their porch where it is a sunny and breezy and beautiful 70 degrees. And I just checked the weather back in New Jersey, where I came from, and I see it's yet another cold and rainy day.  Is it any wonder I wanted to leave the east coast after the fall, winter and spring we've had there!

I need another day or two to settle in but I will be starting to work on all those site updates I promised very soon.  And I will tweet all the changes as they happen.  Stay tuned.

Well I didn't get on the road until nearly 12:30 on Thursday by the time the closing was finished and the truck got on the road.  I made it to Indiana last night, crashed for a few hours in the car, drove awhile longer, and then needed a nap.  And of coarse I have to stop from time to time to water, feed and walk RoShamBo.   Unfortunately it has been raining not only constantly but torentially almost the entire trip!  So now I'm in Oklahoma City and I decided to stop for the night.  Not sure how far I'll get tomorrow - hopefully through Texas - but I should arrive in Nevada on Sunday.

Remember - once I get there give me a few days to settle in and then I'll start making all the site updates and changes I promised in my previous blog.  And I'll keep posting the Daily dog Quotes while I'm traveling even if I don't have time to tweet them.

Well it's been a busy week getting ready to move cross country!  But I'm trying to keep up with the Daily Dog Quote and the weekly breed posts.  So here's the list of what's new on the site.

The Boxer was the breed of the week.  But if you missed it that's OK - the Boxer Breed page will always be available along with the Boxer Designer Breeds and the Boxer Breed Specific Rescues.

The Jack Russell Terrier / Parson Russell Terrier is the Breed of the Week right now.  And the Jack Russell Terrier Designer Breed list and pix is available too.  You should read about the great debate - are the JRT and the PRT two different breeds or two varieties of the same breed.  I'm leaning toward varieties so I've covered them in one post.  But I might change my mind and post the two separately in the future.

I also posted some cute videos on my YouTube channelHave a look at 'How to exercise your Boston Terrier when you can't run around', Part 1 and Part 2.  Also see the 8 week old Boston Terrier with a Napoleon complex

It's been a couple of weeks since I last let you know what has been updated on the site.  I guess I'm so busy doing the updates that I haven't had time to let you know what they are.  pretty silly - huh?

OK - so here's what's new.

  1. Did you happen to have a chance to see the April 23rd post about Designer Breed names.  They've (whoever 'they' is) come up with some cute jokes about what the names of these so called designer breeds really mean if you break them down.  It's a quick read.
  2. How much do you know about the Golden Retriever?  For example, did you know that there's an American, a Canadian, and a British Type Golden Retriever.  Read more about them on the Golden Retriever Breed page.
  3. Along with the breed I've also posted the Golden Retriever Breed Specific Rescues. We have to support all rescues.  But listing the breed specific rescues may help you or someone you know adopt the breed you've always wanted.
  4. And then there's the fun aspect.  The Golden Retriever Designer Breed pix are pretty cute.  Have a look!
  5. The Beagle had it's week in the sun as the Breed of the Week.  These are dynamite little dogs.  learn more about them to see if they might be the right breed for you.
  6. Apparently many people love Beagles because I found quite a few Beagle Breed Specific Rescues.  Chances are there's one near you.
  7. The Beagle Designer Breed pups are also pretty cute.  Have a look at the pix just for fun.
This week I'll try to get the updates posted sooner but I can tell you now that I'm concentrating on the Boxer this week.  So it will be all about that noble breed.

The Breed of the Week is the German Shepherd Dog (GSD). Such a regal dog and, as breeds go, a relatively young one.  Loving, loyal, intelligent - what more could you want in a four legged companion.

You should have a look at the German Shepherd Designer BreedsSince the GSD is such a beautiful dog several of the designer breeds that are being developed from its stock are also quite beautiful.  I still have mixed emotions about the concept of 'designer breeds' but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate some of the offspring of these mixes.

And as part of this site's commitment to the advancement of rescue and adoption I have posted the German Shepherd Breed Specific Rescue and shelter organizations.  I am also continuing to add information to the Rescues and Shelters by State pages.  So check back frequently.

The Breed of the Week is the Labrador Retriever.  Great dogs for just about any type of dog owner or dog owning family!  Did you know that it has been the most popular breed of dog in the US, UK and Canada for many years in a row now.
If you like Labs you might also be interested in viewing the designer breeds that use Labrador Retrievers as a primary stock breed.
And if you love Labs you might be interested in supporting the rescue and adoption of this breed.  I've added a list of Labrador Retriever rescues to the Breed Specific Rescues already listed on this site.

In-keeping with my mission to promote and support rescue and adoption I've also added two new sections to the site.  Please have a look at the new lists of Rescues for Senior Dogs and Rescues for Dogs with Special Needs. Dogs with medical problems are not necessarily a problem.  Learn more about them.  And senior dogs can be a great match for many family or lifestyle situations.  In fact, have a look at 'The Top 10 Reasons to Adopt a Senior Dog' posted earlier this week.
Don't forget you can always Submit a Rescue or Shelter that you would like me to post so we can keep these lists comprehensive and up to date.

And in the just for fun category have a look and the dogs and cats that look like their rabbit pet friends.  There are some really Cute Pix in this mix.

Site Updates

03/22/2011

Have you seen this week's Breed of the Week.  It's the Aberdeen Terrier.  Actually, Aberdeen Terrier is the age old name for the Scottish Terrier.  Read more about it on the Breed of the Week page on this site.  If you just like to look at cute dogs check out the Aberdeen/Scottish Terrier Designer Breeds.
Still working to build the lists of rescues and shelters.  As I mentioned I will add some each day.  Today a added breed specific rescues for both the Boxer and the Affenpinscher.  Check out the Breed Specific Rescues list on this site.  And don't forget - your input is always appreciated so if you are involved with a rescue please complete the Submit a Rescue form so I can post the information.  We need to help all of the rescues out there get found, get donations, get volunteers and match up with adoptive families.
In the mood for a heart warming story.  Read "No Charge For Love."  It's about a little boy and why he chooses the puppy that isn't as active and capable as the others in its litter.
And as always check out the Daily Dog Quote.
