TF Cornerstone, Impeckable Creations, & Long Island Browser sponsor online auction to celebrate NYAAR’s ten years of service
New York, NY, May 10, 2013 –NY Abandoned Angels Rescue (NYAAR), a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and re-homing of dogs in need of loving forever homes, will host its ten-year anniversary auction online from May 10th through the 22nd. Shoppers can bid on a unique variety of items available in the 24/7 auction – which is being sponsored by TF Cornerstone Inc., marketing and graphic design services firm Impeckable Creations, and Long Island Browser – at www.Biddingforgood.com/AbandonedAngels.
“When Abandoned Angels began in 2003, I never imagined that we would save over 2,500 dogs’ lives,” said Dolores Rodrigues, founder of NYAAR. “We currently have over 50 dogs in our rescue’s care, many of whom are waiting for surgeries or specialized veterinary care, and we thought an online auction would be a great way to raise funds.”
NYAAR relies solely on donations to support its organization, whether through adoptions or the generosity of the public to help pay for the veterinary care of sick, physically disabled, and behaviorally challenged dogs. Items available in the online auction include everything from custom portraits of pets to jewelry, sports memorabilia and luxurious travel accommodations.
“NY Abandoned Angels Rescue is an organization close to our hearts and we applaud their efforts to provide dogs in need with loving homes,” said Sofia Estevez, executive vice president of TF Cornerstone, a Blue Ribbon Sponsor of the auction. “We’re happy to be sponsoring this auction and to continue raising awareness of the needs of rescue animals in New York City.”
The rescue hopes to attract more than 360,000 active online shoppers from BiddingForGood plus over 3,500 NY Abandoned Angels Rescue email subscribers, 46,000+ Facebook fans, and 2,437 Twitter followers to shop for their cause.
"We are happy to support an organization that cares so deeply about the welfare of these delightful dogs," said Jason Peck, co-founder and graphics geek of Impeckable Creations which donates graphic design services to Abandoned Angels. "Contributing to meaningful causes is important to us, and working with NYAAR brings back wonderful memories of my Cocker Spaniel Ricki."

"As a Cocker Spaniel lover and owner, I can most assuredly make the following statement: Abandoned Angels is 'for Cocker Spaniels, of Cocker Spaniels, by Cocker Spaniel lovers,’ said Edina Kinga Agoston, owner of auction sponsor Long Island Browser. “God bless them and everything that they do."

Yesterday I received the email pasted below from Im-Paws-Able Rescue. It's about raising money to save a dog named Shawnee. They actually asked if I minded occasionally receiving emails regarding fundraising for specific dogs in serious need. How could I possibly mind that? Please read this post carefully. Click on the FaceBook link to learn more about Shawnee. And then open your heart to the possibility of supporting Im-Paws-Able Rescue's efforts to save this dog so that he can know some of the joys of a life without pain. To All Dogs Welcome: I am on the board of a rescue called Im-Paws-Able Rescue. Since it is so costly to pull urgent shelter dogs, we frequently post chip ins and ask for donations so we can continue saving lives. I hope you won't mind an email from me now and then that includes a plea for a particular dog. I will include a link to a Facebook post/page where there will be more information concerning the dog, if you can share it there that would help so much as well. If an occasional email is a problem, please let me know.
We are currently in the process of raising money for a boy named Shawnee. Shawnee was seized by BARCS, where he was adopted from, w/a broken femur & had to have a metal rod put in to stabilize the break. Impawsable pulled him & placed him in a screened foster home. Within 3 days, his hip was draining. Xrays showed the pin placement was incorrect, so an orthopedic surgeon appt was made. The following day, the pin punctured through the skin and he tried to chew it out. He required orthopedic surgery to put a bar on the outside of his leg & clean/repair the large hole he had chewed in his hip. He then needed surgery to remove the bar.
Shawnee needed PT that he was not receiving, nor was he made available. There were also other, serious concerns, so the rescue sent a written request for the return of the dog and appeared to pick him up. Fosters refused to release him, sending a cease & desist, instead. ImPawsAble finally convinced a judge to sign a warrant for his return. He is in very poor condition. We now have to begin his therapy from scratch. It will take nothing short of a miracle to make that leg functional again...but that's what we are shooting for!
Shawnee requires special food and water therapy that costs $20 a session, 3-4 sessions a week.
Shawnee's Facebook page is located at: https://www.facebook.com/ShawneesImpawsableJourney
His chip in is at: http://thebeameroo.chipin.com/help-us-help-sweet-shawnee
And any checks/money orders can be mailed to:
Im-Paws-Able Rescue P.O. Box 747 Mechanicsburg, PA 17055
Please let's give this boy a New Year that will insure him that we will get him back and playing on all fours!
Thank you so much! ImPawsAble Rescue & Charlie to the Rescue!

If you live anywhere in the Las Vegas area and are a dog lover I sure hope you managed to get to the Orleans Arena yesterday and attend this fundraising event hosted by the Animal Foundation. It was tremendous. But you ask - who were the winners. Well, some would say the winners are all the fur friends that got adopted yesterday. Still others would say that it is the Animals Foundation that won. After all, they ran a very successful event, raised money to help them with their continued efforts, and did a great job bringing attention not only to the plight of shelter pets, but also to the advantages and shear joy of adopting a shelter pet. So maybe the winners are actually all of the families that went home with a new four-legged family member at the end of the event! I guess everybody won.
But some of the dogs that actually received honors in the show may want me to give them their due publicity. So - here it goes. The Small Dog Category Meet SLINKY. This 19 month old, red, long haired Dachshund took the title of Best in Group for the Small Dog Group.
| This handsome young fellow was adopted at the end of the ceremonies and was able to go home with his new family. |
The Variety Pack Category Meet Georgia. This 5 month old, female, beautiful, brindle Dutch Shepherd walked away with the Best in Group title for the Variety Pack. Unfortunately I was not able to get a picture of her with her new family. But good job Georgia! The Medium Dog Category Nabu is a 6 month old, female, German Shepherd / Husky mix who had the honor of strutting away with the Best in Group title for the Medium Dog Category. | Nabu's day got even better when she received an even bigger award - her new family! |
The Large Dog Category How handsome are the two dogs below. No wonder the audience was simply split down the middle resulting in a tie for the honor of Best in Group for the Large Dog Category. This is RUFUS! Great name. Rufus was presented as a Saint Bernard mix - which is clearly the correct description. But from my spot on the floor I was able to eavesdrop on many audience members. And I really has to laugh listening to them try to guess what the 'mix' might be. | LANUK is unbelievably handsome and this picture just doesn't do him justice! He's a one year old Siberian Husky with the most gorgeous markings and captivating eyes I've ever seen on a dog. Like I said - the audience just couldn't choose between these two - they tied for the honor. |
AND NOW - BEST IN SHOW
OK - Rufus won Best in Show. How could he not? I mean - what an impressive animal. And like Nabu Rufus also won the hearts of a new family that day. See the pictures of Rufus and his people to the right. | |
You might think awarding Best in Show AND having that dog find his new family would be both the highlight of and the end of the day - right? Wrong!
One of the many auctions of the day included the 'Pick of the Litter' title. The winner of this auction was able to choose any dog that has appeared in the show that day and take him home. Well, the bidding went on, and on and on. . . And I think it only stopped when everyone in the audience realized how desperately this young family wanted to win and how much their dad wanted to win it for them. The bidding stopped at $3,000.And the winner was . . . None of the dogs that even placed in the group competitions. But instead, an adorable, little, 3 month old, terrier mix appropriately named Benji. So here's Benji with his new family.
Calling all Las Vegas area dog lovers, keep the date open. On April 22, 2012 the Animal Foundation of Las Vegas will present ‘ Best in Show.’ This event will be an American Kennel Club style dog show featuring more than 50 of their beloved shelter dogs. These dogs will be competing both to win over our hearts and for the coveted 'Best in Show' title. Audience participation will determine the winners. So be there to vote for your favorites with your applause. And best of all, the participating dogs will all be available for adoption immediately following the show. So be prepared to fall in love! For additional details regarding this event please visit the Animal Foundation website and click ' Best in Show.' Want to help with the fundraising in other ways. There are plenty of opportunities to help or contribute. Would you like to foster a dog and get him or her ready to compete? Contact the Animal Foundation's Foster Coordinator and request a BIS Foster Care application. In addition to the dog show contest there will be a silent auction held at the event. Maybe you'd like to contribute an item (or 2 or 3) to be auctioned. The Silent Auction & In-Kind Donations form is available online. All of the information you need to donate is right there in the form. But hurry - these donations and commitments need to be received by Monday, April 2, 2012 to give them time to have everything ready for the event. Maybe you'd like to purchase a VIP Sponsorship table. Or maybe you'd like to support the Animal Foundation and get some advertising for your organization in the process. The necessary forms and information you need, including pricing, are available online. Just visit the Animal Foundation's Best in Show page. But hurry for this one too. The information needs to be completed and submitted to the Animal Foundation on or before April 11, 2012. Remember, all proceeds from tickets, sponsorships, donations and the auction will benefit the 50,000 plus lost, unwanted and abandoned animals rescued by the Animal Foundation this year. This event will be held at the Orleans Arena. Tickets go on sale March 1st through the Orleans Box Office. Article cross-posted on the Examiner.com
