All Dogs Welcome

A person can learn a lot from a dog, even a loopy one like ours. Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things-a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else, unwavering loyalty.  -  John Grogan, Marley & Me: Life and Love with the World's Worst Dog

All animals except man know that the ultimate point of life is to enjoy it.  — Samuel Butler

A cat, after being scolded, goes about its business. A dog slinks off into a corner and pretends to be doing a serious self-reappraisal.  -  Robert Brault

The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven, not man's.  -  Mark Twain
And so, I attach a picture of the Boston Terrier, also known as 'The American Gentleman' as he is always dressed in his tuxedo and on his best behavior!

I can't imagine living in a house without a couple of dogs.  If I ever got out of bed at night and didn't have to step over a Labrador or two or three, or move one off the covers so I could turn over, my nights would be more restless and the demons that wait in the dark for me would be less easily fended.  -  Gene Hill

Labradors [are] lousy watchdogs. They usually bark when there is a stranger about, but it is an expression of unmitigated joy at the chance to meet somebody new, not a warning.  -  Norman Strung

We long for an affection altogether ignorant of our faults. Heaven has accorded this to us in the uncritical canine attachment.  -  George Eliot

I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands. When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught thereat. For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that.
W. Dayton Wedgefarth

Properly trained, a man can be a dog's best friend.

Corey Ford

Man, unlike the animals, has never learned that the sole purpose of life is to enjoy it.— Samuel Butler
